Welcome to my digital portfolio! I'm a high school senior pursuing a career in web design, in which I have three years of experience. I'm skilled in UX design for both websites and mobile apps, prototyping on Figma, and branding. In addition, I have technical writing and branding experience, having served as secretary and public relations officer for various clubs. I'm diligent, hard-working, and detail-oriented, and have been trusted to lead teams ranging from a charity book donation club to a traditional Chinese dragon dance group.

Below, you will find several examples of my skills, ranging from website/app prototypes, websites made with content management systems, and websites designed/coded by myself. You could consider this website the first portfolio entry - it was designed and coded by yours truly.

December 2024 - SweetSoles website prototype

SweetSoles home page

A 10-page website for the hypothetical company SweetSoles, designed for the 2025 BPA national competition (Virtual Branding Team). See the interactive prototype for the full experience. Most links/buttons are functioning.

*Images are enlarged to show the entire webpage; in the actual prototype, it is a normally sized desktop screen.

Prompt: Your team has been tasked with creating a branding and marketing campaign for SweetSoles newest line of sneakers. Your team's focus should be product design, advertising, and digital media strategy.

This is my third and final year participating in BPA's national competition, so I wanted to put my best foot forward. I created this hypothetical company's branding from ground up, including the color palette, fonts, logo, and "products," in addition to designing the website prototype.

Many shoe companies try to appeal to a specific audience - Nike is for athletes, Vans for skaters, Converse for alternative emos/punks, and so on. Thus, to set this company apart, I decided their distinguishing factor would be environmental care. The theme of this new collection is Ocean & Sky, in the name of battling water and air pollution, so I chose a color palette with shades of blue, purple, and orange.

I browsed various shoe websites (specifically Converse and Vans) for inspiration. Thus, the final website had a simple main design in black and white, with accent colors in my chosen color palette. I included plenty of "vintage" looking photos in order to implant the nagging idea of "This is how cool I could be if I wore these shoes" in the customers' heads. I also created some hand-drawn graphics on the home page - think "doodles in the margins of my school notes" - for a touch of whimsy and casual fashion.

This was a new experience for me in that I was designing for a company aiming to advertise and sell, rather than a festival as with previous years in this competitive event. Some unique designs I made are highlighted here - the homepage, the order details page, and the sign in page.

December 2023 - Grant Park Festival website and mobile app prototype

A 16-page website and 18-screen mobile app designed to advertise the hypothetical Grant Park Festival, made for the 2024 BPA national competition (Virtual Branding Team). See the website interactive prototype and mobile app interactive prototype for the full experience. Most links/buttons are functioning.

*Images are enlarged to show the entire webpage; in the actual prototype, it is a normally sized desktop screen.

For my second year participating in this event, I was responsible for designing the website and mobile app prototype. My group decided to advertise this festival as a fun, family-friendly event with something to appeal to everyone - including museum exhibitions, local food stalls, artist markets, concerts, and so on. Our color palette exemplifies the importance of the natural environment and historical significance of Grant Park.

I took heavy inspiration from the San Francisco Outside Lands website when designing this. In regards to the prompt, I made this website as functional as possible; websites are meant to offer as much information as possible and provide a point-of-sales system. The screenshots on the left show the homepage and events page (which can be sorted through in the interactive prototype).

On the other hand, the mobile app is targeted towards festivalgoers who have already purchased tickets, so the app prototype contains the features of a "personalized assistant" - on-the-go venue map, announcements, and so on.

However, I did not want to simply repeat the same app design I created last year. I designed a new personalized calendar and events, which also happened to be one of the most challenging and tedious aspects of this project - however, it was well worth it. The screenshots below show the homepage, calendar, and map.

This design won 4th place at the BPA National Leadership Conference. Read the project overview here.

July 2023 - Macrocosm e-newsletter website

Visit the Macrocosm website.

As the web designer for the Macrocosm website, I was responsible for copy editing and uploading around 25-30 articles every week, in addition to taking/uploading photos for each article. The entirety of the layout and web design was also created by me. I ensured that all articles were uploaded on time and kept with a tight, fast paced deadline, whilst coordinating with photographers and editors.

To the left are images of the homepage and an excerpt from a recreational life articles page.

July 2022 - Books for Youth club website

Visit the Books for Youth website.

This is one of the first websites I created, where I practiced basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills. The website layout is responsive and can be viewed on tablets and mobile phones.

June 2022 - Kyros.ai college prep mobile app prototype

I worked as part of the Kyros.ai UI/UX design intern team to design the technical help center. My designs and color palette were chosen as the overall app design scheme. (No prototype available as the original files were deleted.)
